The third edition of the Timber Design Guide, published by the New Zealand Timber Industry Federation Inc. in July 2007, was launched at the Timber Desing Guide Seminar Series in September/October 2007.
This book is essential reading for all architects and engineers designing government buildings, because of the recent announcement that all new government buildings up to four storeys must have a timber option designed and priced.
Architects will find many chapters of interest including durability and treatment, moisture effects, timber finishes, fire resistance and acoustic behaviour.
Timber merchants and sawmillers will be interested in chapters on wood and wood properties, also manufacture and use of sawn timber, glulam, LVL, roundwood and panel products.
Structural engineers will find essential design aids and worked examples on design of beams, columns, trusses, arches, pole structures and portal frames.
A copy of the current guide can be purchased for $60 + $11.11 postage and handling (in New Zealand) + GST
