The New Zealand Building Code requires a Sound Transmission Class and Impact Insulation Class of STC 55 and IIC 55 between habitable spaces in multi-unit residential buildings. A 5-point performance reduction is deemed acceptable on site. Winstone Wallboards, New Zealand's largest supplier of gypsum plasterboard, has developed, tested and published an extensive range of GibĀ® inter-tenancy sound control systems. This paper describes development work and experiences with actual installations and on-site testing. Details for wall and floor/ceiling junctions are discussed. Issue 4 Vol 8. |
