| The structural use of sheet stiffened stud walls has in New Zealand been traditionally confined to housing projects. However new Building Codes have recently removed historical considerations on timber use and new research has identified the critical design areas for these timber and gypsum (or ply) assemblages. This progress has shown how appropriately designed timber stud walls can achieve the earthquake resistant properties demanded by New Zealand conditions. |
