About the event
Eventhough the new timber design standard is out there and being used, design rules on CLT did not make it. But this does not prevent its specification in current projects. Along with this, connections in CLT are being designed using European ETAs which do not necessarily take care of all potential issues.
The webinar will cover topics that should be considered when designing connections in CLT, including ductile and brittle failures.
Bio Pierre is professor of timber design at the University of Auckland. Structural engineer specializing on timber structures, Pierre’s expertise is with timber connections. He has participated heavily in the development of the recent NZ timber code version, more specifically in its connection chapter. His research work is mostly on the brittle failure of timber connections but most recently he is concentrating on resilient connections for structures.
