Cross Laminated Timber in New Zealand introduction, prospects and challenges

Cross Laminated Timber, better known by the short form CLT, has been gaining increasing popularity particularly inEurope and North America for the last two decades. In recent years it has been manufactured and used as a buildingmaterial in other parts of the world including New Zealand. A brief overview of the initial research and introduction ofCLT in New Zealand is presented here. The prospects of further production and applications are discussed along with theassociated challenges.
