Five Storey Light Timber-framed Multi-unit Residential Building on Concrete Podium

This case study relates to the design of a six-storey apartment block for a large multi-unit residential development in Wellington. The buildings are comprised of five storeys of light timber-framed plywood shear walls on a single-storey concrete podium. The plywood shear walls utilise an anchor tie-down system for lateral strength and stiffness while a cross-laminated timber floor is used as a floor diaphragm.
