The material behaviour of Radiata pine under compression

Insufficient information on the compression strengthvalues and the compression behaviour for Radiata Pinelumber and laminated veneer lumber (LVL) from NewZealand is available in the literature. To correct thissituation, compression tests were carried out to gatherthe missing information.The compression test series with Radiata Pine lumberand LVL covers both different load-to-grain directionsfrom 0° to 90° and different load-to-annual ringdirections from tangential to radial. Using differentstandards and to provide parameters, which allow thedescription of the compression behaviour in FEsimulations, the MOE, the tangent modulus, theproportional limit strength as well as the yield strengthwere evaluated.
